May 2011 – using funding available from Merton Council, a Polish-speaking worker, Maria, has been appointed for 6 hours per week. Her role is to support those Eastern European service-users who find themselves stranded in this country without work or home. The support she offers varies with the individual: for some it involves helping to obtain a new passport; for others it can be obtaining a CSCS card as evidence of having done Construction Health and Safety training which is an essential prerequisite for construction industry work.
